Executive Director

Wyoming Immigrant Advocacy Project seeks an enthusiastic Executive Director who will provide strategic leadership, cultivate positive and productive office culture, drive organizational growth, engage stakeholders, direct operations, and oversee development and financial management. The role involves close collaboration with staff and the Board of Directors.

Leadership

  • Oversees the strategic vision of Wyoming Immigrant Advocacy Project, managing its growth and the implementation of its mission, vision, and values.
  • In partnership with the Board of Directors, develops and executes the organization’s strategic plan, setting and advancing annual goals that align with its strategic vision
  • Leads staff in fostering a strong organizational culture focused on mutual respect, equity, inclusivity, teamwork, and open communication with effective conflict resolution
  • Acts as organization’s spokesperson at community meetings and events, including public speaking, and assists staff with event management and outreach
  • Builds and maintains organization’s relationships with strategic community partners locally, statewide, and regionally

Fundraising

  • Takes primary responsibility for fundraising, donor stewardship, budget management, and ensuring the organization’s fiscal health
  • Works with the Board of Directors to cultivate and steward donor relationships while identifying new funding opportunities
  • Manages donor database software to ensure easy access for solicitations and acknowledgement
  • Develops and executes grant-writing and reporting strategy

Administration

  • Drafts and circulates board packets in collaboration with Board Chair, presents staff report to Board at regular meetings, and develops and supports a strong Board of Directors through active recruitment
  • Maintains official records of minutes and governing documents
  • Creates, implements, and updates human resources policies and systems, including but not limited to personnel recordkeeping, staff performance reviews, employee handbook containing organization policies, payroll, retirement benefits, and health insurance stipend

Finance

  • Works with Board of Directors to create and adopt an investment strategy for organizational funds
  • Negotiates contracts with vendors on organization’s behalf
  • Works with third parties as needed to ensure bookkeeping is complete and accurate, organization’s tax return is filed timely, and financial reports are reviewed and presented to Board of Directors at regular meetings
  • Ensures compliance with state worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance requirements

Marketing, Communication and Volunteer Management

  • Collaborates with staff on marketing and communications efforts, including annual reports, press releases, newsletters, listserv announcements, website content, and social media strategy
  • In conjunction with staff, manages and delegates appropriate tasks to volunteers
  • Monitors community issues impacting immigrants and engages in community advocacy as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • A passion for supporting immigrant communities and demonstrated interest in serving low-income immigrants and/or persons of diverse economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Experience in a senior management position, preferably within the nonprofit sector
  • Comfort with fundraising and ability to excite and establish rapport with donors
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to inspire the trust and confidence of the organization, public, donors, and client communities
  • Experience with financial oversight and reporting, and budget development and fiscal management
  • Skill in examining and, where needed, re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and processes
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
  • Experience and comfort with a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience and skill in communicating and collaborating with a Board of Directors
  • Experience working with external stakeholders including elected officials, community members, partner organizations, and media contacts
  • Passion for building a team environment and supporting a collaborative, inclusive work culture, encouraging professional development of staff, and supporting staff in obtaining and enhancing their skills to perform the organization’s work
  • A visionary style that brings people together to support the organization’s mission

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Work primarily from home with a flexible schedule
  • Annual salary of $110,000
  • Health insurance benefits, including dental and vision, and life insurance available with a $500 monthly employer contribution and $150 monthly contribution toward dependent premium
  • Retirement benefits offered with a 3% employer contribution
  • Unlimited PTO and generous holiday schedule
